- I cannot install the GEODOG® PC-Software.
- I have installed the GEODOG® PC-Software, but it crashes when it is started.
- The GEODOG® PC-Software is running, but no connection to GEODOG® can be established.
I cannot install the GEODOG® PC-Software.
System requirements
- Microsoft Windows XP Home or Professional with SP2 / Windows Vista / Windows 7
- Internet access for map display and updating software
- Computer screen (solution 1024 x 800 or higher)
Problem #1:
The Software-CD does not start automatically when inserted into the CD-drive.
Solution:
For a manual installation of the GEODOG® PC-Software please follow the following steps:
- Please open your Windows-Explorer (press "Windows" key + E)
- Open the CD-drive with a doubleclick
- Doubleclick on "setup.exe"
Problem #2:
The installation does not start, or the CD-drive cannot find the CD.
Solution:
If the installer cannot be opened from the CD (automatically or manually), it is most probable that the CD is defect. In order to download the installation file from the Internet (free of charge), please proceed as follows:
- Please click on the following link http://updates.geodog.de
- Click on the latest software version.
- Please confirm the pop-up window with OK. The software is being downloaded. When the download is complete, the installation will start automatically.
- Please follow the installation advices.
This might have various reasons. Please follow the following steps to resolve the problem.
- Please re-start your computer or your notebook after the installation of the GEODOG® PC-Software.
- If a restart is not successful, please open the Software-CD again and doubleclick "setup.exe" once again.
- You are being asked if you wish to repair or deinstall the installed GEODOG® PC-Software.
- Please select "repair".
- Please re-start your computer or your notebook after the repair procedure is completed.
- Please start the GEODOG® PC-Software.
- If the problem persists, repeat steps 2 and 3 and select "deinstall".
- Reinstall the software as described under "The Software-CD does not start automatically when inserted into the CD-drive".
- Please restart your computer or your notebook after installing the PC-Software.
The GEODOG® PC-Software is running, but no connection to GEODOG® can be established.
Problem #1:
How do I correctly connect GEODOG® with my PC or notebook?
Solution:
For a proper communication between GEODOG® and a computer or notebook you first of all need to connect the collar to your computer or notebook by the charging station and USB-cable. For this, you need the following items from the GEODOG® delivery scope.
- GEODOG® positioning collar
- GEODOG® charging station
- USB-1.1 to USB-Mini plug
- SIM-card for the GEODOG®-collar with deactivated PIN, or, as an alternative, GEODOG® without a SIM-card if you want to set the PIN for the first time
In order to connect GEODOG® properly to your PC or notebook please follow the following steps.
- Take the necessary items out of the box.
- Connect the Mini-USB plug (the smaller one) with the charging station.
- Connect the USB-1.1 plug (the bigger one) with your PC or notebook. Please connect GEODOG® only to your PC or notebook. Do not use the ports of monitors, keyboards or external memories.
- If properly connected, the LED of the charging station is green.
- Insert GEODOG® into the charging station.
Please make sure that the guiding groove (next to the contacts on the inner side of GEODOG®) exactly engages into the guiding rail on the charging station. - If done correctly, the LED on the charging station changes from green to red. GEODOG® is now properly connected to your computer or notebook.

Problem #2:
I have properly connected GEODOG® to my PC or notebook, but the GEODOG® PC-Software does not recognize GEODOG® or loses the connection.
Solution:
This can have the following reasons:
- You are using a SIM-card with activated PIN-code entry, but this PIN has not yet been registered with GEODOG®. In this case, you first need to connect the collar to a computer without a SIM-card inserted. In the menu "Settings > Personalization" you can enter the PIN-code of the SIM-card and save this. Only if GEODOG® knows the PIN-code of its SIM-card the connection with the PC will be stable.
As an alternative, you can deactivate the PIN-code entry for this SIM-card by inserting it into your mobile phone and selecting the appropriate menu of your phone.
Please make sure that GEODOG® is always switched off when you insert or remove a SIM-card. - You are not using the USB-cable from the GEODOG® delivery scope.
- You should always use the USB-cable which is included in the GEODOG® delivery.

If, for some reason, you do not have this cable at hand you can use a cable with identical plugs (USB-1.1 to USB-Mini). However, the length of this cable should not exceed 2.0 meters. - If GEODOG® is completely discharged, please charge the collar for a short period so that a proper connection with the PC or notebook can be guaranteed.
- The USB-port of your PC or notebook does not receive enough voltage. This problem might occur with the USB-ports of some manufacturers.
- Please try if you can establish a connection through another USB-port of your PC or notebook.
- If the problem persists, connect GEODOG® to your PC or notebook through a powered USB hub.
- Try GEODOG® with another PC or notebook.
- GEODOG® only establishes a connection to a PC or notebook if the PIN-code entry of the SIM-card is deactivated or if no SIM-card is inserted into the collar or if the correct PIN has already been registered with GEODOG®.
- If you cannot resolve the problem with above steps, it is most likely that not all required drivers for GEODOG® have been installed. In order to install these, please follow the steps as described under "I have installed the GEODOG® PC-Software, but it crashes after it is started".
